We Want Your Car
Other dealers and online estimators, like Canadian Black Book can supply you with used car values, but our specially trained appraisers take into consideration your car's specific condition. While online estimates may only provide you with a ballpark figure from market data, we'll actually buy your car after it's appraised.

The Offer
To get an offer on your car, simply bring it to Hudson's Listowel Kia, no appointment necessary. Your car will be examined inside and out, and we'll give you an offer that day. This process will take minimum 30 minutes depending on how busy we are.

Our car appraisers put your car through a detailed process, ensuring you get a fair and honest offer. The process in determining your offer includes a physical inspection of your car. Since every car is different, our appraisers focus on:

-    The year, km's, make, and model of your car
-    Interior/exterior conditions
-    Aftermarket modifications
-    Structural damage
-    A test drive for mechanical issues
-    Your vehicle's history report for possible flood or frame damage and any accidents

What You'll Need
Along with bringing your car to Hudson's Listowel Kia, remember to have the following items. If you're missing some of the items required, we still may be able to complete the sale. We will guide you through the process and help you make arrangements to gather any missing items: 

1 . Your car's Lien or pay-off information -
We will need your ownership to transfer the car's ownership, and it must be provided at the time of sale. All titleholders should be present. If any person listed on the title cannot make it, please see our FAQ section.

2.  Valid registration -
We must see the car's current registration to confirm that you're the vehicle owner.

3. Valid Photo ID -
All titlesholders should bring a valid, Ontario-issued photo identification.

4. Keys and remote -
When selling us your vehicle, it's important you provide us all sets of keys and remotes. If the original keys and remote to the car are missing, we may adjust the offer.

to the names listed on the ownership. The cheque must be deposited and cannot be cashed. Consider contacting your bank for information on their hold policy.


1. Will making modifications to my car affect the offer?

Supply and demand ultimately determines the desirability of any car or feature in the marketplace. A feature sometimes could improve the offer, and other times it could have a negative impact depending on the feature/modification. Sometimes, an aftermarket modification may void the factory warranty, thus reducing the offer.

2. Will regular maintenance/repairs affect the offer?

Your car's overall physical and mechanical condition will have an impact on your appraisal offer.

3. How can I save on taxes if I buy and sell at Hudson's Listowel Kia?

Lower the amount of taxes you pay when you buy a Hudson's Listowel Kia car when you selling us a car at the same time. You will only pay the HST on the difference and not the whole purchase price of the new car.

Certain situations may disqualify you from receiving a tax break. For example, your name must be on both the paperwork to buy a car and the paperwork to sell a car in order for the tax break to apply. Check with Hudson's Listowel Kia sales manager for details.

4. What if all titleholders cannot be present or one is deceased?

If all titleholders cannot be present, you must speak to a Business Office Associate before selling a car to Hudson's Listowel Kia.

In some cases, we may be able to accept a Power of Attorney, allowing someone else to sign on the absent titleholder's behalf. If a titleholder is deceased, you may have to transfer the title into your name before Hudson's Listowel Kia can buy your car. This can usually be done by taking the ownership and supporting papers to the local license office.

5. Can you sell my leased car?

In most cases, you can sell your leased car in almost the same way as any other financed car. We'll appraise the car or truck, then contact the leasing company for a payoff quote and process any equity you might have. Please note that some leasing companies will not allow you to sell the car prior to the expiration of the lease. Also, be aware that your leased car might not be eligible for the trade-in tax savings described above. Check with your leasing company for complete details.

6. What if I owe more on my car than the amount of your appraisal offer?

If your pay-off amount is more than the offer for your car, the difference is called "negative equity." In some cases, the negative equity can be included in your financing when you buy a car through Hudson's Listowel Kia. If not, we'll calculate the difference between your pay-off and our offer to you and you can pay Hudson's Listowel Kia directly. Hudson's Car Buying Center can accept certified checks and certified funds. If the amount you owe is less than $250, we will accept a personal cheque. Our written offers are good for seven days, giving you time to get any necessary funds to settle your transaction.

7. What if I have a lien on my car?

We will need to contact your lien holder during business hours to get a 15-day payoff. To pay off the lien, we will need your lien holder's name and phone number, the name(s) on the account, and your lien holder's account number and social security number. If a previously paid-off lien is listed on the ownership, you'll need both the ownership and the lien release from the lien holder before we can purchase your car.

Step one: Bring your car to Hudson's Listowel Kia
  • Setting up an appointment isn't necessary, and you can visit anytime during our business hours.
  • A Product Advisor will guide you through our free appraisal process.
Step two: Your car will be appraised by one of our trained appraisers
  • You will receive your offer in as little as 30 minutes.
  • The appraiser will check specific conditions that affect your car, such as km's, its make and model, and any interior or exterior damage.
  • You can talk to the appraiser anytime while he or she is inspecting your car.
  • While your car is being appraised, you're free to browse hundreds of available cars at our store.
Step three: Get a written offer for your car
  • The offer will be good for thirty days at Hudson's Listowel Kia.
  • You can sell us your car or take the offer and think it over.
Step four: Complete the sale
  • As payment for your car, you'll receive a cheque same day.
  • If you decide to sell us your car, be sure to bring us your ownership.
